TOMMY HOFMASTER ACES YOUNGSTOWN
Cory Green takes Lites win
AURORA, Ill. (February 2, 2008) ? Youngstown hosted a sold out event during Saturday night's race, during which Tommy Hofmaster avoided a first turn crash to take his first AMA Arenacross class main event win this year. Hofmaster passed Tilube Honda rider Teddy Maier on lap two and went uncontested for the rest of the twenty-five lap final. Maier won the $750 Toyota Certified Used Vehicle hole shot award and ended up in second. Hofmaster?s teammate, Keith Johnson, tucked in behind Maier to finish third overall. Suzuki?s Robbie Reynard had a good race, running in the top five all night. Points leader Chad Johnson struggled again on his starts, running in the middle of the pack early, but eventually finishing fourth; he also lost sixteen points to Kelly Smith over the weekend. Smith elected to ride the Hampton, VA Arenacross, and won both main events.
The AMA Arenacross Lites main event was a wild one, with Oklahoma?s Cory Green outlasting Steve Romen and Shane Sewell for the win.
Toyota AMA Arenacross will take a week off and return to action in Pikeville, KY on February 15 & 16th.
